By definition, a pedal boat is a recreational water vehicle, consisting of two pontoons with a transverse seat and propelled by a pedal-operated paddle wheel.

Also known as a Pedalo, a pedal boat is a type of boat that utilizes human power to operate. This watercraft is propelled by paddle wheels, which the riders turn using their feet and leg power. A pedal boat is usually a two-seater watercraft and have pedals that are meant to be used together.

Some pedal boats have three pedals on each side, allowing the rider to pedal alone as long as he is seated on a central position.      

Pedal boats are suited for calm waters, making them favorites to rent out in lakes, ponds, and parks. They can also be used for fishing, and are sometimes equipped with rod holders and built-in coolers.
