100% QC with our in-house developed "RoboDiver"

AirBuddy is made in Sydney, Australia from 220 (mostly custom-made) components that are source from reputable suppliers locally, and internationally. Every finished AirBuddy undergoes a comprehensive testing program (takes about 1.5 hour), including a simulated dive using our "RoboDiver" - a device that breathes like a diver and logs various data every second.

Pushing the limits of technology

The combination of safety, performance and design requirements was impossible to achieve with conventional production technologies. During the R&D, Airbuddy worked closely with the STU - University of Technology, leading plasticians, and molders to develop specialised tooling and custom blend plastic resin.

Study of human respiration at the core of AirBuddy design

AirBuddy is a result of 4 years of R&D and many generations of working prototypes that we tested in the ocean. In the beginning, Airbuddy studied various aspects of the diving theory and human anatomy with respect to air consumption, pressure and air flow, that translated into functional, technical and safety requirements.

Clever safety features

Underwater alarm warns of depleting battery. Wearable magnetic switch eliminates the risk of accidental switch off or manipulation. 110° capsize protection with the weight mass below the water line acting as a keel, and a position sensor. Elaborate air ways to prevent splash water entering the compressor.

High Output Compressor

World's most powerful compressor in its size category. Its water-cooled, oilless, reciprocating compressor delivers air at 75 lpm (2.65 cfm). Special cylinder coating reduces wear and prolongs piston life. Acoustically engineered breather baffle reduces noise to ensure diver comfort and no disturbance to marine life.

Advanced Battery Technology

LiFePO4 cells provide optimal balance of safety, high power and long life span. The battery is rated to retain more than 80% of its original capacity even after 1500 cycles. Internal BMS (Battery Management System) with over-current and temperature protection. Dual battery pack construction for increased safety in air transportation allows compliance with IATA regulations.

Integrated Float with Air Reservoir

Combining 3 important functions - flotation, air balancing and storage of emergency air - this critical component was developed over a four year period in cooperation with the University of Technology and several expert moulders and plasticians. Manufactured from a custom material blend at a state-of-the-art facility, that among others produces parts for a leading super sports car manufacturer, it's undeniably a marvel of technology in itself.

Swimming-like Comfort

Experience a less inhibited diving experience without heavy gear on your back and the necessity to adjust your buoyancy throughout the dive. You feel closer to underwater swimming than diving.
